Guardrail Training 10-14 October

November

October was full of activity for Khuthaza, between the Volunteer Build with FEM and Habitat for Humanity in Orange Farm, our regular workshops and programme activities and meetings with various industry role-players as we aim to further develop our partnerships and particularly to get everyone involved in the Construction Career & Enterprise Development Centre!

On the 25th October we held a Green Building workshop with a number of speakers including those from C&CI, BASF, Imison and architect Ngillan Faal. We also had special extra presentations from Alexander Forbes and The Gauteng Dept of Infrastructure. Several people from WBHO and a number of contractors involved in their Enterprise Development programme also joined us for the day. The workshop was sponsored by the Cement & Concrete Institute. Thanks to all of you who contributed to a great and informative day!

November will be another busy month for us as we wrap up our 2011 Contractor Development programmes and other workshops and activities.

There are quite a few changes taking place in the industry - the PPPFA alignment with BEE was noted in our last newsletter. For those tendering this is important information. The building regulations are also taking on Energy Efficiency related changes and of course there has been news with the National Budget, Minister Sexwale's Each One Settle One campaign and the and cabinet reshuffle. Take some time to read through this information - a few articles are included for your reference in the right hand column of this newsletter.

Wishing you well for November, Liz
